GCSE Citizenship
Curriculum Aims
In GCSE Citizenship, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the society that they live in and its place within the wider world. Considering concepts related to personal, national and global identity, students consider what it means to be a person living in a community in the 21st Century.
Students will develop their critical faculties in terms of understanding information that often develops at a fast pace in our developed technological society. Examination of texts, consideration of debates and arguments and also evaluation of how best to move forward as an individual, a society and a global community will form a central part of the course.
The ultimate aim of the course is to enrich and enable students so that they can take a positive and productive role in the future development of the society in which they live.
